Art in Bologna
Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna, a city of just under 400,000 with a university founded in 1088. Its center is flat, walkable, and lined with 62 kilometers of porticoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. Old masters, an Egyptian collection, and a young museum of the city’s 19th-century painters are all a short walk apart.
