Lyon, France
Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon
Housed in the former Palais Saint-Pierre, a 17th-century Benedictine abbey on Place des Terreaux, the museum was founded in 1801 and opened to the public in 1803. It holds one of France's largest fine-arts collections, from Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquities to modern painting and sculpture.
